Last Minute Questions

Hey Everyone,
Two days 'til I board a plane and begin the journey! I'm so excited to meet you all. Here's a few last minute questions for Catherine/Zsofi....

What time are we meeting you in the Martos Hostel? It says dinner in the itinerary and last year's blog had a specific time, so I thought I should make sure I'm not missing this detail! I'm checking in a little early, and I'm assuming that our reservations are under Learning Enterprises?

As far as getting to our first village goes...(Samantha asked this on the blog earlier)....I know you'll be helping us with getting to our villages from Budapest by way of the train, but how do we get to our host family's house? Will they pick us up? I'm bringing their contact and everything, but wasn't sure how much preparation we should have done by now to get there.

Next...Komarno! Last year, it looks like Imre took care of everything - is this year the same? I'm guessing we'll be getting more info while we're in our first village, but do we need to do make any arrangements for the midpoint break before we leave the states?

And last but not least, when will we get our second batch of host family contact info?

Thanks and CAN"T WAIT!!!!

Introducing... myself (Zsofi B.)

Hello, volunteers!

Just a quick note to introduce myself, since your wonderful PD has asked me to contribute a bit to the blog: my name is Zsofi Budai (I hope you can keep all the Balazs's and Zsofi's straight!), and I was a volunteer with what was then known as the Eastern Europe Village Project in 2004 and 2005. The two following years I served as LE's European Liaison, working with both the Hungary/Slovakia and Croatia/Romania programs. This summer will be the first in four years that I won't attend the program orientations and midpoint breaks, but I hope that I can still be of some use to all of you! If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask them -- I know both the Slovakia (where I volunteered) and Hungary (where I'm originally from, and where I found a lot of the villages that currently participate) programs inside and out!

With greetings from Moscow,

Zsofi B.

P.S. Do check out last year's (somewhat incomplete) blog to read about past volunteers' experiences in their villages: lecentraleurope.blogspot.com

International cell phones

What is the best way to obtain an international cell phone once I'm over in Hungary?

Thanks! So excited to see you all in less than a week.

Last Year's Blog

Hi All,

Last year's PD, Janelle, and long-time CC and awesome member of the LE family, Zsofi Budai, created a great blog for volunteers last summer: lecentraleurope.blogspot.com. This is truly a great resource, and something I highly recommend that you take a look at!

Hope all is well,
Catherine

Host Family Gifts

Does anyone know what kind of thank you gift for the host family would be appropriate? Also, what kind of American things are people bringing aside from pictures and magazines?

Money

So I remember my LE campus person telling us that Chase is not a great bank to have when going to Hungary, but I can't remember the exact reason why. Is this true? After doing a little research online, I can't find anything that would make me think that having Chase would be an issue...

Slovakia?

So I've been contacted by my first HUngarian village family and contacts and all, but Iwas just wondering about the second villages? When are we getting info on those, or will we only find out when were in Europe?
